Royal Standard
The Royal Standard of England is a flag flown by Her Majesty the Queen, with variations of th Royal Standard being flown by the other members of the royal family. The Royal Standard is broken up into four quarters and is actually a banner of arms. In quarters one and four the flag hosts the three lions passant guardant of England. In quarter two the lion rampant, the Royal Standard of the King of Scots is placed and in quarter three the Irish Harp. The United Kingdom maintains two Royal Standards, one for England and one for Scotland. The Royal Standard is similar in scotland, but the lion rampant replaces the three lions passant guardant of England and vice versa. The Irish Harp remains in the same place on both flags. The reason for this is that when Scotland and England joined to create the United Kingdom, Scotland maintained its legal system, including the royal standard.
