England
The flag of England is represnted by St. George's Cross. The flag was originally adopted to provide English ships with protected trade from the Genoese fleet. England paid tribute to Genoa for this use and eventually the flag caught on as the national flag of Engalnd. It was translated to uniforms during the crusades and is easily recognizable today as Englands Flag. Upon the union of England and Scotland in the 1700's. Upon the creation of the United Kingdom, the Union Jack was formed combining the flag of England, St. George's Cross and the flag of Scotland, St. Andrew's Cross. The new flag was called the Union Flag or the Union Jack and didn't change until Northern Ireland joined the UK and Saint Patrick's Cross was added to the flag design.
